Coaching
Yes. Your coaching conversations are stored securely and only accessible to you. No other users or administrators can view your conversations. Our AI coaches use Anthropic's Claude under commercial API terms, which means your conversation data is never used to train AI models. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. You can review our AI Disclosure page (/ai-disclosure) for full details on how AI is used in the platform.
Open the Coach page (/coach) from the My Career Path menu. Click the coach avatar or name in the sidebar header to return to the coach selection screen. Choose a new coach and your preference updates immediately. All your previous conversations with other coaches are preserved and accessible from the sidebar thread list. You can switch as often as you like.
After 20 messages in a conversation thread, our system automatically creates a summary of the discussion so far. This helps the AI coach maintain context without needing to process every single message. You won't notice it happening. It works seamlessly in the background to keep conversations on the Coach page (/coach) smooth and relevant.
Each conversation thread maintains its own message history. However, coaches always have access to your full Career Profile data in every conversation, including your work history, skills, education, certifications, active goals, and job analyses. This means a new thread starts fresh in terms of conversation flow, but the coach still knows your professional background. For long conversations, the system automatically summarizes the discussion after 20 messages to maintain context. You can view and manage all your threads from the sidebar on the Coach page (/coach).
Goals & Tracking
Goal progress is calculated automatically as the average of all milestone progress within that goal. Go to the Goal Tracker (/goals) from the My Career Path menu. Create a goal, then add milestones to break it into actionable steps. Update each milestone's progress using the slider (0-100%). When all milestones reach 100%, the goal auto-completes with a celebration animation. Goals also have status options: Active, Paused, Completed, or Abandoned. You can pause a goal to focus on others and resume it later.
AI Insights provide an on-demand analysis of your goal using the SMART framework (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound). Go to the Goal Tracker (/goals), expand any goal card, and click "Generate AI Insights." The AI will: - Score your goal on each SMART criterion with specific feedback - Identify potential risk factors with likelihood and impact ratings - Suggest concrete milestones you can add to your goal with one click Insights are regenerated each time you request them, so they reflect your latest goal description and milestones.
Yes. Goals can be tagged with one of four categories: Career, Skills, Leadership, or Work-Life. Use the filter tabs at the top of the Goal Tracker (/goals) to view goals by category. Each goal also has a priority level (High, Medium, Low) shown as a colored badge, and you can filter by status (Active, Paused, Completed, Abandoned).
Job Search Tools
Go to Job Analysis (/jobs/analyses) under the Career Hub menu and click "Analyze New Job." Paste a job description (100-10,000 characters) and our AI scores your match across five dimensions: - Skills: 0-30 points based on technical, soft, and industry skill overlap - Experience: 0-25 points based on role history and seniority alignment - Education: 0-15 points based on degree and field relevance - Certifications: 0-10 points based on credential matches - Culture Fit: 0-20 points based on your culture preferences (/jobs/settings) The analysis also extracts ATS keywords, identifies skill gaps with learning paths, and generates a prioritized action plan. From the results page, you can click "Add to Goals" on any skill gap to create a tracked goal, generate a tailored resume or cover letter, or start tracking the application.
ATS (Applicant Tracking System) keywords are terms that automated screening software looks for when filtering resumes. Our job analysis extracts these directly from the job description and flags which ones already appear in your Career Profile. Keywords are categorized by context: skills, qualifications, responsibilities, and benefits. Focus on incorporating the missing keywords, especially those marked as "required," into your resume. When you generate a tailored resume from an analysis, the AI automatically incorporates relevant ATS keywords from that job.
Go to Applications (/jobs/applications) under the Career Hub menu. You can add applications manually using the inline form, or create one directly from a job analysis results page by clicking "Track Application" (the job title, company, and analysis link are pre-filled). Track each application through these stages: Saved, Preparing, Applied, Phone Screen, Interviewing, Offer, Accepted, Rejected, or Withdrawn. Use the Kanban board view to drag and drop applications between columns, or switch to list view for filtering by status. Each application can store notes, contact information, and next steps.
Culture fit preferences are your workplace values and preferences that factor into the Culture Fit dimension of job match scoring (worth up to 20 points). Set them at Culture Fit Preferences (/jobs/settings), accessible from the Career Hub menu. You can configure five preference dimensions: work-life balance, team size, work pace, structure level, and remote work preference. You can also select core career values like innovation, stability, growth, and others. These preferences are compared against job description signals during analysis.
From any job analysis results page (/jobs/analyses, then click an analysis), click "Generate Resume." You'll choose from five templates, each producing genuinely different AI-written content tailored to that specific job: - Professional: Balanced corporate tone, 4-6 bullets per role - Modern: Metrics-forward with a sidebar layout, 3-4 bullets per role - Minimal: Zero filler, 2-3 concise bullets per role - Executive: Includes a Key Achievements section with dollar and percentage figures - Technical: Features categorized skills and a Selected Projects section with tech stacks The AI uses your Career Profile data and the job requirements to write optimized summaries, experience bullets, and skill selections. After generation, you can preview the resume, download it as PDF or DOCX, or open it in the inline editor at My Documents (/documents) for further refinement.
The Resume Checker (/tools/resume-checker) under the Career Hub menu scores your resume across your resume across five scored sections: - First Impression and ATS: Layout clarity, ATS parsing compatibility, and visual flow - Executive Presence: Leadership language, career narrative arc, and executive framing - Impact and Metrics: Quantified outcomes, metrics density, and action verb strength - Market Calibration: Detection of outdated terminology, legacy technology, and dated practices - Keyword Gap: Job description keyword matching (only when you provide a JD alongside your resume) Each section includes specific findings with "Try This" rewrite suggestions you can copy directly into your resume. You can also import your parsed resume data into your Career Profile. Premium subscribers get unlimited checks.
After viewing a job analysis results page, click "Track Application." This creates a new entry in your Application Tracker (/jobs/applications) with the job title, company name, and a link back to the analysis pre-filled. You can then update the status, add notes, and track it through the pipeline alongside your other applications.
Resume & Documents
Each template produces genuinely different AI-written content, not just different formatting: - Professional: Balanced corporate tone with 4-6 bullets per role (around 25 words each). Standard sections in a traditional layout. Best for corporate, finance, and consulting roles. - Modern: Metrics-forward with 3-4 bullets per role and a sidebar layout for skills and education. Best for tech, startups, and product roles. - Minimal: Strict zero-filler approach with 2-3 concise bullets per role (18 words max). No additional skills or certifications sections. Best for academic, research, and writing roles. - Executive: Includes a dedicated Key Achievements section with 4-5 career-defining outcomes featuring dollar and percentage figures. Leadership-framed bullets at around 30 words each. Best for C-suite, VP, and director roles. - Technical: Features skills grouped by domain (Languages, Frameworks, Cloud, etc.) and a Selected Projects section with tech stacks and outcomes. Best for engineering, IT, and data roles. Choose based on your target role and industry. You can switch templates after generation from the document editor at My Documents (/documents).
Yes. Go to My Documents (/documents) under the Career Hub menu and click any resume or cover letter to open the split-screen editor. The left sidebar has template switching, version history, and export controls. The right side is your editable document canvas. Click any text to edit it inline. Select text to reveal the AI Toolbar with five actions: Improve (enhance clarity and impact), Shorten (make concise), Expand (add detail), Formal (professional tone), and Casual (conversational tone). All edits auto-save after 2 seconds of inactivity. Use Cmd+Z to undo, Cmd+Shift+Z to redo, and Cmd+S to force save. Every AI edit is undoable.
Every document in the editor at My Documents (/documents) saves up to 20 versions. You can save a version manually from the sidebar at any time, which creates a labeled snapshot you can restore later. Switching templates also auto-saves the current version before regeneration so you never lose work. Click any version in the sidebar to preview it, then click restore to revert to that point. When you reach the 20-version limit, the oldest version is automatically removed to make room. Version history is available for both resumes and cover letters.
Resumes and cover letters can be exported as PDF or DOCX from the editor sidebar at My Documents (/documents). Both formats maintain the template styling and are ATS-compatible. PDFs render pixel-perfect layouts ideal for direct submission. DOCX files are fully editable in Microsoft Word and Google Docs, useful if a recruiter or hiring manager requests an editable format. The export buttons are pinned at the bottom of the editor sidebar for easy access.
From any job analysis results page, click "Generate Cover Letter." Choose from the same five templates as resumes (Professional, Modern, Minimal, Executive, Technical). The AI writes a personalized cover letter with a salutation, 3-4 body paragraphs (250-400 words), and a professional closing, all tailored to the specific job requirements and your Career Profile. After generation, you can preview the letter, download it as PDF or DOCX, or open it in the inline editor at My Documents (/documents) for further refinement. The AI highlights key terms from the job description that are woven into your letter.
Yes. Open any resume or cover letter in the editor from My Documents (/documents). In the left sidebar, click the Template Switcher to see all five templates with their accent colors. When you switch, the editor auto-saves your current version first, then regenerates the content using the new template's writing style and layout. For resumes linked to a job analysis, the AI rewrites the content to match the new template's strategy. For example, switching from Professional to Executive adds a Key Achievements section. A loading overlay appears on the canvas during regeneration.
The AI Toolbar appears in the document editor when you select any text in the canvas. It offers five one-click rewriting actions: - Improve: Enhances clarity, impact, and word choice - Shorten: Condenses the text while keeping the core message - Expand: Adds relevant detail and context - Formal: Shifts to a more professional and polished tone - Casual: Makes the language more conversational and approachable The AI rewrites only your selected text and applies the change inline. Every AI edit is automatically saved as an undoable action, so you can always press Cmd+Z to revert if you prefer the original.
